This company went out of business as of early 2007; this review is kept in its final form for historical interest.
We find DVDtoHome's website simple, repetitive (with links for Service Problems, Website Problems, Complaints, and Technical Support--but no phone number), and its main search engine is weak, only allowing queries on title. Likewise, they have only nine genres and limited collections, making browsing via provided links difficult. These design problems alone mean its definitely not one of our favourites.
Their website claims 62,500+ UK DVDs to rent--which may mislead some who see other leading companies refer to 50,000+ total titles. The 62,500 figure must be actual discs in their inventory; we checked, and they confirmed they actually have "around 15,000 titles in our database." Unfortunately, their front page isn't frequently updated, and displays only older films. Our advice is to steer clear.
Prices: They do not have an initial free trial period, instead, you subscribe and get the second month free--this is only redeemable once per household in two years. Note, according to their Terms and Conditions, you must cancel within seven days prior to the end of the billing period, and if you haven't sent your discs back you may have to pay for postage. Their prices at the upper levels are also expensive; one disc for the standard £9.99, 2 discs for £14.99, 3 discs for £19.99, 4 discs for £24.99.
